A single mother has sought public help to find her 17-year-old daughter Gunreet Kaur who went missing from her residence a week ago.
Gunreet, a school student, was reported missing on the afternoon of May 19 under mysterious circumstances.
An FIR was registered on the statement of her mother Sukhdeep Kaur, a school teacher who resides in Sector 91.
“On the day of the incident, my daughter came back from school, hugged me and also offered me a glass of water. Later, she could not be found. She left behind a note saying that she has left on her own will as she wants to start living responsibly. She also wrote that she would regularly contact me and will return after achieving some success but she has not called yet,” the mother said.
He added, “I fear that she is vulnerable as she has never ventured out of home before and she is a minor. I think she left as she thought that it was difficult for a single mother to raise her. But I assure her that it not the case. It is also very unlike of her not to let me know where she is. If she is not found at the earliest, I fear she could be exploited or kidnapped.”
Sukhdeep appealed to her daughter to contact her as soon as she can and also to the public at large to give any information regarding her. “Foul play in the incident cannot be ruled out as she was earlier harassed by some boys at school,” she said.
Gunreet was a student of Kimberley International School in Panchkula, where Sukhdeep is a teacher.
