Attack on singer AP Dhillon: One Indian-origin Canadian held, other on the run
While a man from Winnipeg has been arrested, the other man is reportedly in India and the police have issued arrest warrants against him

An Indian-origin Winnipeg man has been charged for the shooting at Punjabi artist AP Dhillon’s Colwood residence and two vehicle fires on Ravenwood Road in early September, the North Island Gazette reports. An arrest warrant has also been issued against another man who is reportedly in India.
Police in Ontario apprehended 25-year-old Abjeet Kingra on Wednesday. Kingra faces charges of discharging a firearm with intent and arson stemming from the 2 September incident.
On that date, police arrived to find two burning vehicles and evidence of gunfire directed at the residence. Officers evacuated an occupant from the home while the Colwood Fire Department extinguished the flames, according to West Shore RCMP.
A video circulated after the incident, believed to have been recorded by one of the suspects, showing an individual firing at least 14 shots at the home.
An unendorsed arrest warrant has also been issued for Vikram Sharma, 23, who is suspected to be in India. Sharma, wanted for discharging a firearm with intent and arson, is described as a South Asian man, approximately 5’9”, weighing 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Police have no photo available of Sharma at this time.
“West Shore RCMP officers have been working diligently on this investigation, which has led to identifying the suspects involved,” said Supt Todd Preston, officer in charge of West Shore RCMP. “We will continue to pursue this investigation and locate the outstanding suspect until an arrest is made.”
Earlier, the firing was connected to extortion incidents within the South Asian business community.
