Sidhu gives Oppn ammo to attack alliance

The spat between MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia has given the Opposition Congress and even a Congress rebel, enough ammunition to target the ruling SAD-BJP alliance.

The spat between MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia has given the Opposition Congress and even a Congress rebel, enough ammunition to target the ruling SAD-BJP alliance.

Congress rebel from Majitha,Sukhjinder Raj Singh Lalli Majithia, who fought unsuccessfully against Majithia in the Assembly polls,on Monday demanded Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s resignation over the issue. This, after Congress MLA Jasbir Singh Dimpa threatened to file a PIL for the civil polls to be held afresh on Sunday.

Lalli,on Monday, warned that if Badal did not resign in a week’s time,he would approach the Governor to seek the dismissal of the government. “Akali Dal and BJP jointly rigged and coerced Assembly elections and now when Akalis have done the same to their coalition partners skeletons have started tumbling out… The newly elected government of SAD-BJP alliance has lost locus standi politically as well as morally to rule the state and the chief minister should resign,” Lalli said.

It all started after Sidhu alleged that SAD resorted to “undemocratic means” and caused defeat of some BJP candidates in Amritsar during recent civic polls in violation of “coalition dharma”. The comments did not go down well with Majithiam who went on to say that Sidhu should not deliver sermons on coalition dharma in the light of SAD support to him in Lok Sabha polls. Sidhu hit back at Majithia saying BJP was not a puppet in his hands and it was due to BJP support in 2007 and 2012 that the alliance came to power and Majithia could become a minister.in 2007 and 2012,that the SAD-BJP alliance came to power and Majithia could become a minister.
