A Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) staffer posted at Amritsar’s Golden Temple allegedly killed his colleague after an altercation at the Guru Nanak Niwas — from where the shrine is run — on Saturday.

According to SGPC sources, the suspect Sukhbir Singh attacked Darbara Singh with a sword. Both were posted in the Teja Singh Samundri Hall, the headquarters of the SGPC. The hall is adjacent to the Guru Nanak Niwas.

An SGPC official said that an official complaint had been made to the police. While police have yet to begin investigations, SGPC sources claimed the employees had an altercation over a “personal issue”.
