Seven turn up for Patil’s public hearing session

The public hearing session of the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil witnessed seven complainants turning up with their grievances.

The resident welfare association of Sector 21 approached the Administrator complaining about the

water supply in the sector. The Administrator directed the Municipal Corporation Chief Engineer to take necessary steps to prevent difficulty faced by the residents.

The problem arose after the motor installed with the tubewell fell into a deep trench and could not be retrieved by the officials. The MC officials offered to install a new tubewell instead. However,the residents objected that this would take time and till then the problem would persist.

Another complainant Om Parkash Gosain said that ownership of Dwelling Unit had not been transferred. The Administrator directed to Chairman,Chandigarh Housing Board to transfer the unit after

the applicant removes the violation.

The Administrator heard the request of Raj Kaur wife of Late Nirmal Singh regarding her appointment on compassionate ground in place of her deceased husband.

The Administrator advised the Secretary Tourism to consider the request of Raj Kuar and take necessary action in accordance with the rules.

The members of Janata Dal (United) presented a memorandum to the Administrator with one lakh signatures demanding that Chandigarh should be made a state.

The Administrator said that the memorandum would be forwarded to the Central government.

President of All India Blind Employee Association raised several issues including appointments /promotions as per roster points,allotment of flats as per the quota available under the Scheme for the allotment of flats to the UT employees,etc. Patil directed that these may be examined for disposal.

Holding a meeting of

the officials of the Administration after the public hearing,the Administrator directed that work for construction of the flats under the rehabilitation scheme at Maloya should be started at the earliest. The tenders for the same have already been floated. A discussion on the status of the Metro Rail was also held.
