The Federation of Sectors Welfare Association Chandigarh (FOSWAC) has suggested setting up of a centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System in the city by the UT Administration. In a meeting held today, the members of FOSWAC said the system would bring transparency and accountability in functioning of the Administration apart from faster redressal of grievances.
The members would soon be meeting UT Administrator Shivraj Patil with the proposal.
The members expressed concern at the rising cases of corruption in many departments of the Administration. Discussing about the involvement of Major Nirvikar Singh, former ADC to the previous Punjab Governor Gen S F Rodrigues (Retd) in misappropriation of public funds, the members said that the menace needs to be tackled with a form hand.
Three new Resident Welfare Associations have become members of FOSWAC. These include RWA of Sector 38,38 (W) and Category-I Modern Housing Complex,Manimajra.
The members demanded that keeping in view the lawlessness in the city night patrolling should be strengthened. Co-operation of the residents be sought if necessary.
