Six eminent citizens were honoured for their remarkable contribution in their fields as the Senior Citizenss Welfare Association of Manimajra celebrated its 10th Annual Day function in Gurukul Global School,Manimajra on Saturday.
The prizes were awarded by the Union Minister for Railways,Pawan Kumar Bansal,who was also the chief guest on the occasion.
Those honoured included DS Grewal,President,Senior Citizenss Association for his contributions in the field of social service,Dr Manuj Wadhwa,Head,Orthopaedics,Fortis Hospital for his notable contribution in the field of medical service,Hillary Victor in the field of journalism,Col. J S Bala,Secretary,Sikh Educational Society for his role in the field of education,Parminder Phool in art and music and Col Gursewak Singh,who is a multi-faceted personality and was also recently honored by the Governor of Punjab Shivraj Patil for his book on stress management.
Mayor Subhash Chawla who was the guest of honour spoke about how the government has been catering to the middle class of the city,by not imposing huge taxes.
Taking note of the occasion,the Association also gave away school bags to 50 school children from the economically weaker sections. The associations souvenior for 2013 was also released thereafter.
The event was also attended by Chairman,Institute for the Blind,Major General Rajinder Nath (Retd),Area Councellor Gurcharan Dass Kala,Managing Director,Gurukal Global School,Praveen Satya and Principal Aruna Bharadwaj.
