Security tents: Last lot out,hearing today

Finally,green belts of Chandigarh are free of illegal and unauthorised security tents pitched by the police forces of Chandigarh,Punjab and Haryana,outside the residences of their VVIP protectees. The last lot of six tents,which were to be removed by the Punjab government from outside the residences of their protectees,was removed on Monday,and a report in this regard was submitted in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday.

The case will come up for hearing on Wednesday.

The case pertaining to security tents pitched in the green belts was taken up by a division bench of Chief Justice Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Mahesh Grover. The court had issued stern instructions to the Chandigarh administration,Punjab and Haryana governments to immediately remove all the security tents and make the green belts free of such encroachments. The bench ordered the Chandigarh Administration to start with removing the security tents from outside the judges’ residences.

During the last hearing,the Punjab government had sought time for making alternative arrangements for the security personnel of CRPF and ITBP staying in the six tents,which were finally removed on Monday.
