As a mark of protest against the administration,the Sector 17 market will remain closed from 12 noon to 2 pm on Thursday.
A Joint Action Committee Several,composed of associations in the city,has now decided to take up problems of the residents with the Chandigarh administration. The committee has also decided to hold a car rally in support of their demands.
The members of the committee are demanding roll-back of collector rate that was hiked by 50 per cent recently. According to the members,the sale and purchase of property will come to a halt as a result of the hike.
It is further demanded that the transfer of lease hold rights to freehold be allowed. The association is also demanding an amendment in building by-laws and withdrawal of the high penalty imposed for misuse.
The associations that are part of the committee are Chandigarh Industrial Association,Chandigarh Industrial Converted Owners Association,Property Consultants Association,Chandigarh Business Council,Chandigarh Hotel Association,FOSWAC,Chandigarh Residents Social Welfare Federation,Business Promotion Council and Chandigarh Citizen Council.
