In a shocking incident, unidentified individuals stole and manipulated pictures of over two dozen minor students of a reputed private school and subsequently circulated these on social media. This disturbing development has prompted concerned parents to file a formal complaint with the Chandigarh police.

According to sources close to the matter, parents have alleged that these images, particularly those of girls, were illicitly obtained from the school’s online portal. The situation came to light when a parent arrived at the school’s  premises to pick up his daughter on a Tuesday, only to find her visibly distressed.

The distraught student told her father that someone had uploaded doctored and objectionable images of her and her fellow students on a Snapchat platform. She was alarmed when the posts began to go viral across various social media platforms.

On learning about this, parents swiftly converged on the school . They also reached out to the Police Control Room (PCR) vehicle on Wednesday. Subsequently, they sought assistance from SSP (UT) Kanwardeep Kaur at her office in Sector 9.

“At least four parents have stepped forward to file an official complaint,” said the police authorities. Parents have asserted that the pictures of the students, later altered in an objectionable manner, were believed to have been sourced from the school’s online portal. The social media account responsible for circulating these disturbingly modified images has since been removed from the internet. The police have registered a case against the unidentified culprits, and the matter is now with the Cyber Cell police station.

Investigations are underway to identify and bring those responsible to justice.
