Sandhu,Lehal suspended for a year,Cong MLA set to get back membership

The Chandigarh Golf Club management on Saturday decided to suspend former club honorary captain Sukhjit Lehal and Lt Col Vijay Singh Sandhu for a year regarding their involvement in the brawl that occurred on February 16,this year.

The Chandigarh Golf Club management on Saturday decided to suspend former club honorary captain Sukhjit Lehal and Lt Col Vijay Singh Sandhu for a year regarding their involvement in the brawl that occurred on February 16,this year. They will now be suspended till February 16,2014.

The management also clarified that Amloh Congress MLA Randeep Singh Nabha’s suspension will be lifted from Monday. “The management has decided to suspend Sukhjit Lehal and Lt Col Vijay Singh Sandhu for a year till February 16,2014. The committee found that these two members were involved in the act of violence and hence we have taken the necessary action against them. The third person,Randeep Singh Nabha’s suspension will be till today (Saturday) and he will be eligible for all his member benefits from today,” a club official said.

On February 16,there was a clash at the 16th tee between the groups of former club honorary captain Sukhjit Lehal and Lt Col Vijay Singh Sandhu. The inquiry report,which was submitted by inquiry committee chairman Lt Gen (retd) K S Mann and SMS Sandhu,recommended that the club authorities should take strong action against Lehal and Lt Col Sandhu,and indicted Lehal,Sandhu and Randeep Nabha,the Congress MP from Amloh. The third member of the enquiry committee,J S Rathi who did not sign the report earlier,submitted his individual report on Saturday. Meanwhile,Chandigarh Golf Club president Gurinderjeet Sandhu refused to comment on the issue. “ I cannot comment on the management action,” Sandhu said while talking with Chandigarh Newsline.
