Sacred Heart School,Sector 26 secured 58.10 points to claim the Chandigarh inter-school Rhythmic gymnastics championship for Girls Under-14 at Sector 7 Gymnasium Hall in Chandigarh on Monday. Moti Ram School of Sector 27 bagged 28.60 points to bag the runners-up position. Carmel Convent,Sector 9 finished third with 24.60 points.With one gold,two silver and one bronze medals in her kitty,Shreeya Sharma of Shishu Niketan-43 was adjudged the best all-around gymnast with 21.70 points.

GMSSS-22 girls take football title

Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 22 beat Ryan International School,Sector 49 by 4-0 to win the Chandigarh Inter-School Football Tournament for Girls Under-14 at the GMSSS-22,ground.The highlight of the match was a fine hat-trick by Ananya who scored in the 5th,11th and 18th minutes. Bulbul completed the winners’ tally with a goal in the 35th minute.Saupin School,Sector 32 outplayed Chitkara International,Sector 25 by 1-0 to capture third place. Aakirit got the all-important goal in the ninth minute.

Saupin’s-32 wins in cricket

Riding high on Prithvi’s brilliant spell (6 for 15),Saupin’s School,Sector 32,recorded a 52-run win over Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 32,in a match during the UT inter-school U-17 boys category. Saupin’s won the toss and decided to bat first and posted a total of 130 runs for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. Varun (39) and Swapnil (20) were the main scorers for Saupin’s. Chasing the target,GMSSS 32 were bowled out for 78 runs in 19 overs. Prithvi bagged six wickets that also included a hatrick and helped his team win the match.

Carmel Convent victorious

CHANDIGARH: Carmel Convent School,Sector 9,Chandigarh,bagged the overall first position in the 2nd Chandigarh State Chi Kwang Do Martial Art championship held at Kinder Pillar Nursery School,Sector 46,Chandigarh. Meanwhile,Kashyap Martial Art Academy Sector 37 and Kundan International School Sector 46 grabbed the second and the third spot respectively. Over 200 students from different schools and academies participated in the championship. (ENS)
