In the Municipal Council budget, nothing was earmarked for slums. At that time,Executive Officer K K Jain reasoned that the slums were on Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) land for non-allocation of funds. Now,a special grant of Rs 70 lakh has been sanctioned by the state government for slums of Panchkula city.

“We are proposing to construct community centres and will provide eight mobile toilets for them. The proposal will be put up in the upcoming Municipal Council meeting,” said Ravinder Rawal,President,Municipal Council. “ There can be more than two community centres.
