The Panchkula police has arrested a man allegedly involved in a murder case linked to an attempted robbery.
According to ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj, the incident came to light during a late-night patrol. Around 2 am on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, victim Deepak, who was riding home on his motorcycle, was intercepted by two unidentified youths on the road leading to Krishi Bhawan in Sector 12. The assailants allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons and fled after snatching his mobile phone.
Deepak was rushed in a critical condition to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. A complaint was lodged at Sector 5 police station by the victim’s brother.
Police said that the deceased, Deepak, 33, a native of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, was currently living in Dhakoli on rent and working at a call centre in Panchkula.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan said that a team led by Inspector Dalip Singh, in-charge of Crime Branch in Sector 26, carried out a swift operation and arrested the main accused, Roshan, a resident of Gopalganj, Bihar, presently staying in Dhakoli, Zirakpur.
The accused will be produced before a court and taken on police remand for recovery of the weapon used in the crime and the looted mobile phone, police officials said.
