Air Marshal (retd) Naresh Verma joined the Armed Forces Tribunal- Chandigarh Bench as administrative member on Monday. He has replaced Lt Gen (retd) HS Panag,who retired this month.
Naresh Verma,was commissioned on December 30,1972 in the Administrative Branch of the IAF. Later,he was appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer of Air Force stations at Bhuj,Jamnagar,Yelahanka and Delhi.
The air marshal was selected as the the first ever Director-General (Administration) at the Air Headquarters,in March 2009. Four years as DG,my focus was on the infrastructural development in the air force,which meant the infrastructure for operations that means resurfacing of runways,building up of new bases,and advanced landing grounds in the North-east, he said.
Verma said,This is a challenging appointment where I feel that one can utilise 40 years of experience of his service. Where the judicial members are well versed with their legal points,the administrative members know in and out about the service norms and service traditions and acts like Army Act 1950,The Navy Act 1957 and the Air Force Act 1950.
