Residents of Emaar Sector 108 in Mohali have flagged frequent power outages, unsafe access routes and poor road repairs, warning of protests if corrective steps are not taken.
Raising concerns over persistent civic and infrastructure shortcomings, residents of Emaar in Mohali’s Sector 108 have warned of protests if corrective steps are not taken urgently.
The Resident Welfare Society (RWS), led by president Ajay Paul Sandhu and general secretary PL Garg, said despite a 66 kV sub-station in Sector 109 becoming operational in May, Sector 108 has still not been provided an independent feeder supply (11 kV cable).
According to the RWS, residents continue to face frequent power outages and prolonged restoration delays.“Emaar authorities keep offering repeated excuses, but the ground reality remains unchanged. With summer approaching, the situation is likely to deteriorate further,” the RWS warned.
The society also expressed serious safety concerns over the non-opening of a second entry and exit point connecting Sector 108 to the main Banur-Kharar road. “The lack of an alternate access route increases traffic congestion and the risk of accidents,” they said.
In addition, the RWS criticised the quality of recent road repair and construction work, alleging, “The work is substandard and unlikely to be durable. These repairs will require redoing in the near future, resulting in unnecessary inconvenience and waste of resources.”
Demanding immediate intervention, the RWS cautioned that continued inaction could “compel residents to take stringent measures, including withholding AMC payments, staging protests against Emaar officials, and even blocking Emaar offices and the Banur-Landeran road”.
“Any fallout arising from such actions will be the sole responsibility of Emaar,” the RWS asserted.
