Residents of Sector 45 held a protest outside the Burail Village Police post after a person named Naveen went missing from his residence two days ago.

The family members allege that the police is acting slowly and is not making enough effort to find Naveen.

Naveen,a software engineer had started his own firm in Sector 47. On Friday,Naveen left home to visit a salon as he was to get married on Sunday. When he did not return,Naveen’s family members gave a written complaint to the police.

On Sunday,Punjab Police found Naveen’s motorcycle and his bag abandoned under mysterious circumstances near Ropar canal. But,the police was not able to find Naveen.

“We had given a complaint to the police but we feel that the police is not acting swiftly. Naveen had fired four persons from his office a few days back. They had been threatening Naveen that they would take revenge. We feel that he has been kidnapped and are urging the police to question those four persons. But the police officials said that they will wait for another few days so that if he had committed suicide or had been murdered, his body will surface in the canal,” said one of Naveen’s relatives.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) South,Surjit Singh Mailk said,“We are searching for Naveen since yesterday. His mobile phone is switched off and the last location of his phone was in Ropar. He had given calls to his family members and his fiancee before he went missing”.
