CONGRESS SPOKESPERSON R P N Singh Tuesday demanded that a commission comprising two serving judges of the Supreme Court be set up for an “independent and credible probe” after the political storm over a report in the online news portal The Wire about the business dealings of BJP national president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah. “This is a test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country is watching whether he will choose truth and morality or friendship and party politics,” Singh said.
The Congress leader added, “Modiji had said ‘na khaunga, na khane dunga’ (will not engage in corruption myself, nor allow others to), but now the questions are being raised over the companies and commercial activities of his party president’s son.”
Soon after RPN Singh’s press conference, Haryana’s Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu also organised a briefing to counter the allegations made by the Congress leader. The BJP leader alleged that the Congress leaders were levelling allegations against BJP chief’s son on the basis of “fake news”. “Its shows bankruptcy of their (Congress leaders) mind. The proverb ‘Kisyani billi khamba noche’ (The angry cat scratches the pillar) suitably applies to Congress leaders,” said Abhimanyu, a former BJP spokesperson.
