In wake of the datesheet goof-up,Panjab University (PU) authorities on Friday clarified that there was no provision under which re-examination of three papers of MSc (chemistry) IV semester could be avoided.
The decision was taken at a meeting convened to hear the grievances of student representatives, who were sitting on a dharna on campus. PU Vice- Chancellor,Dean University Instructions (DUI) and Dean Students Welfare (DSW) attended the meeting.
As per the decision, fresh examinations for chemistry paper-I,paper-II and paper-III of semester IV will be conducted on July 2,July 5 and July 8,respectively.
On May 1,a datesheet was uploaded on the PU website for PG courses. Due to clash of dates,a new datesheet was uploaded and duly declared.
However, one of the PU affiliated colleges,SGGS Khalsa College,Mahilpur, did not check the new datesheet and conducted the examinations,as per the old schedule.
MSc chemistry IV semester examinations, which were to be conducted on May 22,27 and June 4,respectively,were conducted on May 21,25 and June 3 at Khalsa college. University authorities learnt of the incident when sealed packets of answer sheets were opened at the Secrecy Branch on June 3.
