Council members dissatisfied with proceedings
The meeting of the Administrators Advisory Council left the members dissatisfied with the proceedings. While the agenda reached the members around midnight, only two members were given a chance to express their views. The reason being that the UT Administrator Shivraj Patil had to leave for Rajasthan in the afternoon.
The meeting witnessed three presentations. One was by the UT Finance Secretary on the five-year plan, another by UT Chief Architect on the Master Plan and the third by a representative from DMRC about the Metro Rail. Patil gave his views on the various areas in the city that required attention. The address reportedly went on for around an hour.
While Patil asked the members to give their suggestions about the security concerns, transport, education, increase in traffic and health facilities related issues so that the Administration can implement the policies and plans in a proper manner, just two members were given a chance to speak.
President of the city unit of BJP Sanjay Tandon was one of the speakers. He pointed out that the agenda reached the members past midnight. The agenda should have been sent earlier, he stated.
Apart from raising issues and making recommendations in the presentations, there was little that could be achieved in the meeting. The members have now been asked to come prepared with suggestions for a meeting that will be held in a month.
Tandon also raised the issue of lack of decisions being taken that was resulting in delayed execution of work. He pointed out that departments like primary health and primary education have been transferred to the Municipal Corporation. But no progress has been made due to which the budget was lapsing.
