While the rebel factor have acted as spoilsport for parties in many constituencies in the polls,it had virtually no role to play in Ferozepur City, where Congress’ Parminder Singh Pinki won by a margin of 21,784 votes.

While former Congress MLA Ravinder Singh Babbal had contested as an Independent,Sukhpal Singh Nannu was in fray from the BJP. While Nannu — a three-time MLA from here — bagged the second position,Babbal came third.

“Despite the rebel factor,I won by a huge margin. Had the rebel not contested,I would have got a record lead. Working hard and being present among the masses is important. The rebel factor will fade away,” said Pinki.
