With less than 48 hours to go for Republic Day,the Mohali district police are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring safety and security in the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jatinder Singh Aulakh has instructed the field staff to search for possible hideouts of anti-social elements and keep a tab on the movement of suspected persons to ensure foolproof security for Republic Day celebrations on Monday.
All public places,particularly bus stands,railway stations and vital installations have been kept on high alert,said the SSP.
The district police with the help of Government Railway Police conducted an extensive search operation at Mohali Railway Station on Saturday. Besides frisking people in and around the railway station,the passenger and goods trains passing through the Chandigarh-Morinda section of the rail line were also put under the scanner.
At the district-level Republic Day celebrations to be held at the grounds of Government College in Phase IV,Mohali,Punjab Cooperation Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh will unfurl the tricolour while Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) Rajeev Kumar Gupta and Punnet Goel will perform the honours at their respective sub-divisional headquarters in Kharar and Dera Bassi.
The final rehearsal for the district-level R-Day celebrations is over and all arrangements are being finalised for the success of the function,said District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Dr Uma Sharma while speaking to Newsline.
