Rattan,Shivam star in DAV-15 victory

Rattan Chand struck a stroke-filled 25-ball 51 while Shivam Sharma came up with a stellar all-round performance (31 runs,5 for 13) to steer DAV Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 15,Chandigarh,to a facile 167-run win against Gurukul Global School,Manimajra,and enter the quarter-finals of the boys’ under-19 category of the UT inter school cricket tournament held at Government High School,Sector 19,on Monday.

Earlier,batting first,DAV-15 posted 199 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Rattan was in murderous mood and smashed seven boundaries and two towering sixes during his knock of 51 runs. Raghav chipped in with a quickfire 38-ball 50 while Shivam blasted a 10-ball 31 to help the team score a healthy total.

Chasing the target,Gurukul Global were skittled out for 32 runs in 11.4 overs. Neerav top scored with 10 runs. Shivam bowled well and grabbed five wickets for 13 runs.

In another match,DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8,defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 40,Chandigarh,by 65 runs. Similarly,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 33,beat Shishu Niketan Public School by 36 runs. Meanwhile,at Government Model Senior Secondary School (TM),Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19,beat St Soldier School,Sector 28,Chandigarh,by 88 runs. In another match,St John’s School,Chandigarh,prevailed over Government Model Senior Secondary School (TM) by two wickets.

Meanwhile,in the inter school yoga competition in girls’ under-14 category,Government Model High School Vikas Nagar bagged the first position,followed by Government High School,Sector 25 and Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 20 at second and third spots respectively. In the UT inter school archery competition,Bhawana of Government Senior Secondary School,Kaimbwala,came first in 20 M and 30 M events in the girls’ under-14 age category. And,in UT inter school kho-kho tournament,MDAV School,Sector 22,defeated Government High School,Sector 46,by ten points and one innings. The other teams to win were SGGS-35,Sharda Sarvhitkari School,GHS-46,GMHS-43,GMHS-41,GHS-35 and Saupin’s School,Sector 32. The winners in boys’ under-17 age category were MDAV-22,SGGS-35,GHS-46,GSSS-45,GMHS-46,GMHS-41,GMHS-22 and GHS-35. Similarly,in the girls’ section,the winners in girls’ under-14 category were GHS-46,GMS-46,GHS-35,Shishu Niketan School-22,Sacred Heart-26,Ankur Public School-14,GHS-24,while in girls’ under-17 category,the winners were GSSS-45,GHS-32,GMHS-37 and GHS-46.
