Midway through Chandigarh Police’s innings,Ramandeep tried to slog the ball few times. Call it his misfortune or the bowler’s luck, the ball just managed to move away from his striking zone at the last moment. But Ramandeep was not the kind who would give up easily .
As the JW Marriott bowler charged in with his next delivery and released the ball,Ramandeep had already made up his mind and stepped out of the crease to send the ball flying into the stands. It was the only six in Chandigarh Police innings and Ramandeep showed why he is a force to be reckoned with in the team.
His score of 33 off 38 balls was instrumental in his team’s six-wicket victory in the final match as Chandigarh Police retained the CII Corporate Cricket Cup for the second year in succession.
Ramandeep obviously was the star as he starred with the ball also and with his wily bowling, that fetched him two wickets, helped the team bundle out JW Marriott for a paltry total at DAV Public School,Sector 8,on Friday.
Earlier,JW Marriott batted first and were all out for 119 in 18.5 overs. Shahbaz Khan played a cameo by smashing a 23-ball 34 with the help of three boundaries and two mighty sixes. His dismissal triggered the collapse as other batsmen failed to get going against a disciplined Chandigarh Police bowling attack. Rohal Paliwal chipped in with 13 off 16 balls.
For Chandigarh Police,Parminder was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 28 runs while Ramandeep and Jaswinder took two wickets each.
Chasing the target,Chandigarh Police scored 123 for 4 in 17.2 overs. Ramandeep was the star player for Chandigarh Police while Satnam also batted well during his 33-ball 24. Anand Singh took two wickets for Marriott.
