Leaders and members of Panjab University Students’ Union (PUSU) of DAV College, Sector 10, held a protest outside the college on Saturday, alleging that adequate facillities were not being provided to hostel residents on the campus.
The party members had protested at the college on August 8, but the principal had warned that the students would be suspended if the protest continued. However, as many as 15 members of the PUSU party sat on a hunger strike on Saturday.
The members stated that despite the college increasing the fee incredibly this year, the food quality remains poor in the girls’ and the boys’ hostel, while the college has no proper water facilities within the campus. The members have submitted a complaint to the principal demanding cleanliness in the hostel and campus washrooms.
The president of the party, Gurlal Singh Brar, said, “Our college faces water problems daily between 11 am and 4 pm on the entire campus. The food is already of bad quality. The less quantity and high price of milk charged in both the hostels is a problem.”
