Punjabi varsity claims overall kabaddi trophy

Hosts Punjabi University,Patiala,claimed the all-India intervarsity kabaddi circle style championship for the third time in a row at the Punjabi University Campus ground. The winner team won a cash prize of Rs 51,000,whereas runner-up team got Rs 31,000 and the third place holder got Rs 21,000. Gagandeep Singh of Guru Nanak Dev University,Amritsar,was adjudged best dhaavi and was awarded Rs 5,100 while Sonu of Maharshi Dayanand University,Rohtak,won the best jaafi award and won Rs 5,100. In the final,Punjabi University prevailed over GNDU Amritsar,45-43,in a well-conested encounter. In the match for the third position,MDU Rohtak defeated Panjab University,Chandigarh,46-38.
