Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh
The issuance of property cards for Lal Dora lands has begun in Punjab and people will now be able to become legal owners if they are occupying such properties, MLA Kulwant Singh has said. Addressing the crowd in Thaska and Dairi villages, the MLA distributed the property cards to 205 beneficiaries — 160 residents of Dairi village and 45 residents of Thaska village. The MLA said people living on Lal Dora land in over 12,000 villages across the state would now be able to legally claim ownership rights over the land they have occupied.
“People will now be able to avail bank loans against their property; something that was not possible earlier due to the absence of valid ownership records.” The preparation of property cards for Lal Dora land has also started and the eligible beneficiaries will receive them as they are prepared, he said.
Addressing residents, he said under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was working on multiple initiatives for Punjab’s overall development. The AAP is also working towards ensuring welfare schemes were implemented at the grassroots level.
The government was also working towards a permanent resolution of long-pending property ownership disputes faced by residents, the MLA said.
A comprehensive survey was also conducted in Mohali to identify issues related to roads, sewerage, drainage and streetlights, he said. “Wherever sewerage-related issues are found, they will be resolved, and new pipelines will be laid wherever required.”
He targeted the opposition parties and said some leaders were trying to mislead people. They were making “false claims” about their achievements despite having failed to undertake major development works in Mohali over the past two decades, he alleged.
Among those present during the address were Tehsildar Gurpreet Singh, Naib Tehsildar Ravinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh Samana, Thaska sarpanch Mahima Singh, Block President Malkit Singh and councillor Gurmeet Kaur.
