Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday announced that a committee will be set up to decide on the amount of cash allowance in lieu of land allotment to the gallantry awardees of the state.
A decision to this effect was taken by Badal at a meeting with a delegation of The War Decorated India (WDI),an association of Param Vir Chakra (PVC),Maha Vir Chakra (MVC),Vir Chakra (VrC) and Military Cross (MC) awardees on Saturday evening.
A spokesperson of the chief ministers office informed that the committee will comprise Brig Kuldip Singh Chandpuri MVC,VSM (retd),Brig A S Brar VrC (retd),secretary finance and director,Defence Services Welfare.
The chief minister also announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh to the charitable fund of The War Decorated India,besides a 10 per cent hike in their existing allowances and full allowance payment to the widows of the gallantry awardees. In case of the death of an unmarried gallantry awardee,this allowance will be given to his parent.
