In a humanitarian gesture that underscored the Punjab government’s outreach to border areas, cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Saturday donated blood for a victim of recent Pakistani shelling in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister was visiting Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar to meet the injured—Rajvansh Singh and his father Gurmeet Singh —when doctors informed him of an urgent need for blood. He volunteered on the spot.

Rajvansh Singh was to undergo surgery on Sunday. Upon hearing about the requirement, the minister donated blood to support the procedure.
Harbhajan Singh also shared his mobile number with the victims‘ family and said, “If you need anything, anytime—don’t hesitate to call me. I will be there immediately.”
Speaking to reporters, the minister said, “When our state is on high alert at the border, it is our duty as a government to stand by every family. This is not just an obligation—it is the voice of our heart. Punjab will never leave its brave citizens and soldiers alone.”

Ministers have been visiting border districts—including Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, and Tarn Taran—to interact with locals, farmers, and families of military personnel.
Finance Minister Harpal Cheema and Minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal recently met soldiers and their families, while Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur held health camps for women in Fazilka.
Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh has inspected rural health centres to ensure medicine availability.
