Amid the ongoing procurement of wheat, Punjab clocked an increase in arrival of the crop at the grain markets till Thursday (April 27) by 5.88 lakh metric tonne (LMT) as compared to last year. This comes in the backdrop of a late arrival of the produce at the markets due to the untimely rains.

However, the slow lifting of wheat from the mandis is still an issue and is creating a glut, said officials associated with the procurement process.
