The SSPs of border districts in Punjab,Rajasthan and Haryana will meet later this month in Muktsar to chalk out a plan to combat the growing menace of narcotics smuggling from across the border,IG (Bathinda zone) Nirmal Singh Dhillon,who held a sangat darshan programme at Moga,said on Thursday.
At the meeting,will device ways for a co-ordinated effort can be put in place to check the menace of drug smuggling,which is eating into the youth of the state, said Dhillon.
DIG (Ferozepur Zone) Paramraj Singh Umranagal,who was also present at this programme,said: Police stations in Makho,Bajakhana,Bahghapurana,sadar police station in Farzilka have done a great job and recovered huge amounts of narcotics and drugs being smuggled into the state.
The sangat darshan programme was the first such meeting in Moga. The IG received around 500 complaints,including grievances against his own force,land disputes,fake marriages and cases of duping,said sources.
While the police are doing its bit,there are many cases where people are not satisfied. Thus,through such programmes,we extend an open invitation to the people to come up with their complaints. At the same time,such programmes help us ensure transparency within the force, said Dhillon,who also ordered transfer of an SHO right in front of the villagers.
