For the first time,the Panjab University (PU) will hold a Vidyarthi Panchayat to address the grievance of students on the spot. The first session of the panchayat will be held on May 22 where research scholars will be invited to share their problems.
An initiative of the Punjab University Students Council (PUCSC) and National Students Union of India (NSUI),it will help the students in resolving their problems and bring better accountability on the part of the administration.
It has been decided that the Dean,Students Welfare (DSW),will be holding a monthly hearing under this system. The officials who will be present during the grievance hearing session will be the Registrar,Controller of Examination,FDO and all the wardens.
The initiative is being taken jointly by PUCSC and NSUI and they would like it to be held every month before the syndicate and all the problems which are not taken care of should be included in the agenda of the syndicate and taken as priority, added Jeewanjot S Chahal,campus president,NSUI.
DSW Prof A S Ahluwalia said,With this hearing session,authorities can discuss with them their problem and depending on the nature of the problem,solutions will be provided to them.
