Taking a serious view of the fact that some of the colleges are admitting more students against the stipulated seats,the Syndics in their meeting held here on Saturday at Panjab University (PU) have asked the varsity authorities to call the student-teachers ratio from all the colleges for keeping a record and form committees that will do surprise inspections.
Moreover,the House made five member committee consisting Prof Nawal Kishor,Dr Jagwant Singh,Prof Nandita,Keshav Malhotra and Iqbal Singh which will work out the modalities to initiate the recruitment drive in the varsity.
Due to prevalence of confusion regarding UGC guidelines,meant for the recruitment of teaching faculty,and calculation of academic performance index (API),the recruitment process in the varsity was put on halt.
Moreover,the House authorized Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover to talk to the Patiala University V-C,Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Education secretary to lift the ban on the recruitment of teachers in the colleges and to review the posts.
Interestingly,taking strict note of wrongful admission of around nine students made in Guru Nanak Girls College,Ludhiana,the House resolved that fees of all such students should be returned and the principal of the college be fined for violating the norms.
The House also approved that video recording of the Senate and Syndicate from experimental basis should be converted to permanent affair.
The members of the Syndicate felicitated Dean University Instructions (DUI) Prof R K Kohli for being designated as the Vice Chancellor of DAV University,Jalandhar.
The House approved the recommendation of the faculty of Engineering and Technology dated December 24,2012 to follow policy JEET 2013 and duration of five- year integrated degree of B E (Chemical) with MBA be changed to five and half year for the session 2013-14.
The members of the house also approved the minutes of the student aid fund administration committee to provide assistance to eligible students out of the student aid fund
However,the members of the House withdrew affiliation earlier granted to Tagore College of Education,Fatehgarh- Korotana,Jalandha Road,Moga district for the BEd course.
The House approved sanctioning of the subsidy of Rs 30,000 to 31 colleges for holding seminar/ workshop/ conference for the session 2012-13.
