Members of Student Organisation of Punjab University (SOPU) and Panjab University Student Union (PUSU) clashed,on Friday,at a blood donation camp organised by PUSU at the student centre. About ten members of PUSU and SOPU entered into a heated argument which led to a scuffle. The clash ended after the intervention by the police.

Police has taken preventive action against three SOPU members,Manoj,Ranjot and Sonu, under Section 107/151 CrPC. “We have not received any complaints from any of the parties so far. Manoj and Ranjot are PU students, while Sonu is a student of DAV College,Sector 10. They will be produced before Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Central),” said Inspector Gurmukh Singh,SHO of Sector 11 police station.

“The outsiders had come to spoil our event. They started teasing our volunteers which led to a heated argument,” alleged Sumit Kumar,a senior PUSU member.

On the other hand,Vikramjeet Singh, president of SOPU said,“They initiated the fight. They are imposing false allegations on us.”

Inspector Gurmukh said that one of the senior PUSU members,Sukhjit, moved an application seeking action against SOPU members for ‘spoiling PUSU’s event’. Two months ago, three PUSU members were allegedly attacked by SOPU members near a petrol pump in Sector 10.
