The five presidential candidates for the Panjab University Students’ Council elections,who will battle it out for the top job on September 4,have varied interests and visions for the university.

Amandeep Singh randhawa

Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU)-Student Organization of India (SOI)-Hindustan Student Association (HSA)-Himachal Pradesh Student Union (HPSU)

Education: BA,pursuing LLB

Agenda: MA exam answer sheets to be evaluated in the university and revision of syllabus of all courses on the pattern of syllabus of entrance exams.

Also,an active SOPU member and captain of PU All India netball team.

satwant singh dhedry

Panjab University Student Union (PUSU)- Indian National Student Organization (INSO)-Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP)

Education: BA (Hons)-BEd integrated course,pursuing LLB

Agenda: To work for providing central status to Punjab University (PU).

Also,an active member of SOPU since the last five years,Dhedry is passionate about cricket and reading books.

Navjot kaur

Student Federation of India (SFI)

Education: BSc Biophysics,Pursuing MSc Biophysics

Agenda: Judicious expenditure of funds on students’ welfare and development of a Placement Cell in all departments.

Also,an active member of SFI since the last one year and an avid reader.

chandan rana

National Student Union of India (NSUI)-Himachal Student Union (HIMSU)

Education: BSc Biophysics,MSc Nuclear Medicine,Pursuing PhD in Biophysics

Agenda: Fee reduction for students and infrastructure development.

Also,was an active member of SOPU,joined NSUI in January 2013, active in organising cultural events.

The fifth contender for the post of president is sanjay sharma,an Independent candidate,from the Department of Sanskrit
