The Panjab University (PU) and its local affiliated colleges have emerged as a favourite academic destination for international students. In the year 2012-13,as many as 408 students from countries like s USA,Canada,Sweden,Australia,Afghanistan,Bhutan and Nepal took admission in various courses in the PU.
The varsitys official spokesperson said that recent trends show that the PU and its affiliated colleges in Chandigarh have emerged as one of the most popular study options among the international students. High quality education,job oriented courses and a favourable study atmosphere is attracting the international students in large numbers to the PU and that the number of international students has increased to about to more than three times in the last three years.
In all,55 international students are doing research,34 are doing their post-graduation in various colleges and 319 are doing their graduation from the varsity. Adding to it 124 international students are studying on the campus while 284 are studying in different affiliated colleges of PU in Chandigarh.
In order to make a better career and future,the students from 24 countries like USA,UK,Australia,Canada,Germany,Sweden,Afghanistan,Bhutan,Djibouti,Ethiopia,Iran,Iraq,Indonesia,Mauritius,Myanmar,Maldives,Nepal,Nigeria,Qatar,Thailand,Tibet,Yemen,Zimbabwe and Singapore have chosen PU to study in.
The maximum number of students is from Afghanistan,which is followed by students from Iran,Tibet,Canada,USA,Thailand,Bhutan and Australia.
