In an attempt to provide guidance to a fresh lot of students, the Panjab University (PU) authorities have decided to adopt a mentoring system according to which each faculty member will advise five to 10 students regarding their personal, academic, social problems and will also provide them with solutions.
More attention will be given to those students who, after completing their class XII,take admission in integrated courses. Every year, about 4,000 new students take admission in PU campus and there are about 800 faculty members.
The varsity Vice Chancellor Prof Arun K Grover took this decision after consultation and interaction with the students and faculty members. It has also been decided that all fresher students taking admissions in PU will be addressed by the V-C. Assistance from active senior students and Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) will also be sought to make the stay of new students happier on the campus.
