Property dealers resent high collector rates

Property dealers of Panchkula held a press conference today to express their resentment against high property rates in Industrial Area.

Property dealers of Panchkula held a press conference today to express their resentment against high property rates in Industrial Area. Haryana State Property Dealers’ Association President Suresh Aggarwal pointed out that the administration had increased the minimum property registration rates in the city’s Industrial Area by more than 300 per cent.

He said that on the one hand the government spoke about giving relief to industrialists while on the other hand it had increased the rates so much that no one would be able to buy a plot in the city’s industrial area. Aggarwal added that in residential areas, the rates had been hiked by 50 per cent and in commercial areas by 30 per cent. People would now prefer going through GPA route rather than buying property, which would affect the state’s revenues,he observed.

The chairman of the Association,O P Oberoi, said that after the promulgation of the new rates there had been a decrease in sale and purchase of property and buyers were migrating to other areas. Association Vice President Anand Aggarwal said that it had become difficult to buy a house or shop even in villages.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Pratap Chaudhry,District Congress President Mukesh Malhotra,Beopar Mandal President Kuldeep Chitkara and Panchkula MLA D K Bansal were also present on the occasion. They assured the property dealers that they would speak to the government and local MP Kumari Selja to reduce the collector’s rate.
