As proposed by the National Productivity Council (NPC),Ministry of Commerce and Industry,the Economics and Entrepreneurship Development department of SD College,Sector 32 C,kicked off the National Productivity Week,under the theme of ‘Prosperity thru productivity’,on Friday.

The event is supported by the Directorate of Industries,Chandigarh and was inaugurated by S S Bhullar from the Chandigarh NPC.

While welcoming the participants,Nisha Angrish,HoD,Economics and Entrepreneurship Development,highlighted the aim of the endeavour as the need to call upon everyone to start with a productive mindset and contribute to the productivity of the nation as a whole,rather than creating “islands of prosperity” surrounded by poverty.

Almost 42 teams from colleges of Chandigarh,Punjab and Haryana participated in the various contests organised including a quiz,declamation,poster-making contest and a ‘Best Business Idea’ contest. The best business idea would also be considered by the Directorate of Industries for practical implementation.

A workshop on ‘Stepwise Guidance for Enterprise Building’ was also organised,in which Balbir Singh from NITCON informed the students about various means of setting up one’s own business. The winners were awarded trophies and certificates by Rahulinder Singh Sidhu,editor-in-chief of Glimpse magazine.
