Prinkle,Dahiya on course for twin crowns

With both the players going out all guns blazing,not only they fought for every points but they also battled the fatigue that started hampering their game.

There wasn’t any sign of fatigue at any stage on Prinkle Singh’s face as she came up with a dominant performance in the girls’ under-16 doubles quarter-final match against the pair of Harleen Kaur and Satakshi Singh. Hours before parterning Aarushi Kakkar to tame Harleen and Satakshi,Prinkle was involed in a ferocious battle with Harleen to secure berth in girls’ under-16 singles semi-finals. With both the players going out all guns blazing,not only they fought for every points but they also battled the fatigue that started hampering their game. So,it was a great display from Prinkle who played well to enter both the singles and doubles’ semi-finals of the CLTA AITA Talent Series tennis tournament at CLTA Stadium in Sector 10 on Wednesday.

Earlier,Prinkle,who has been seeded second in the girls’ under-16 category,came up with a brilliant performance to beat Harleen kaur 6-3,6-1 in the quarter-finals. She then paired with Aarsuhi and defeated Harleen and Satakshi 4-0,4-1 in a dominating performance in the doubles quarter-finals encounter. In other girls’ under-16 singles quarter-finals matches,Jannat Khurana outplayed Kiran Kalhal 6-2,6-0,Pious Mudgil blanked Ravita Rawat 6-2,6-2 and Baani Singh hubled Nandini 6-0,6-0,to book their places in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile,in the boys’ under-16 singles category,Mritunjay Badola staved off a strong challenge from Calvin Golmei to enter the semi-finals with a fine 6-2,3-6,6-2 victory over the CLTA trainee. Calvin made a superb comeback into the match when he won the second set but Mritunjay kept his cool and clinched the third set to make it to the semis. Similarly,top seed Vikrant Dahiya also moved into the semifinals with a facile 6-3,6-0 win over Digvijay Pratap. Dahiya will now Jagdeep Singh Bajwa who defeated Rohit Kumar 6-2,6-2 in the quarter-final encounter. Also,Eklavya Singh thrashed Paras Dahiya 6-0,6-0 to enter the semis.

In the boys’ under-12 singles category,Dhruv Tangri and Onkar Apte prevailed over their respective opponents to enter the semi-finals. Dhruv scraped past Chiraz Singh Dandona 1-4,5-3,7-1 while Onkar got the better of Udayveer Singh 4-1,1-4,7-4. Divesh Gehlot defeated Bhupender Dahiya 4-2,4-2 while Naresh Badgujjar registered identical 4-2,4-2 win over Ishaan Khusu.

On the other hand,in the girls’ under-12 category,Priynaka Khanna overcame a spirited Princy Panchal and entered the semi-finals with a hard-fought 5-4(8),4-2 win over her opponent.
