Preparations in full swing for Advani’s yatra arrival

The Jan Chetna Yatra of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani would be welcomed with pomp and show as it enters the city on November 16.

The Jan Chetna Yatra of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani would be welcomed with pomp and show as it enters the city on November 16. With the rally being ahead of the elections of the Municipal Corporation scheduled for December 17,the party is gearing up to ensure that enough supporters are mobilised.

It has been proposed that the rally would be welcomed at nine points in the city. A variety of activities would be held at each point. Groups of leaders would welcome Advani at Hallomajra. Sectors 20,21,22,23,24,29 and 30. At each of these places activities like Shehnai Vadan,Bhangra,martial arts (gatka),welcome by religious groups,display of crackers,etc would be done.

Meetings were held today in a number of sectors and villages for preparations of the rally. The workers in each area are being instructed to mobilise people from their respective sectors. A number of committees have been constituted to look into different aspects of planning.

General Secretary of city unit of BJP Arun Sood said that the party workers were gearing up for the event. “The party leaders are involved in different activities. Some have been asked to take charge of publicity,while others are looking at accommodation. The security would be looked after by the youth wing of the party,” he said.

Advani would be coming to Chandigarh on Wednesday evening from Pathankot.

A rally has been scheduled at the rally ground in Sector 25. He would stay overnight in the city and then proceed further. The aim of rally is to highlight issues like corruption.

BJP has also put on hold the announcement of the candidates for the elections of the Municipal Corporation till after the rally.
