Preneet Kaur shocked at conditions in Rajindra hospital

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur in a letter to the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has expressed shock at the poor condition of Rajindra Hospital,Patiala. Three people from Badungar locality in Patiala died due to gastroenteritis recently and many others were admitted to the hospital.

Kaur said that the government has not provided any medicines for emergency treatment and whatever medicines,injections,etc are available were procured through donations. The sewerage system in the hospital has been blocked for the last six months. Most of the bathrooms are rendered unusable. No phenyl or other cleaning substances were supplied to the hospital in years.

Kaur has further written that a portion of the land of the hospital has been sold by the government. She expressed hope that the sale proceeds would be used for developing the hospital.
