Chandigarh residents’ power bills will soon be heavier on the pocket. With the increase in the tariff with effect from May,the arrears of the previous month would be added. The tariff has been hiked in both residential and commercial areas. For domestic consumption,they have been revised from Rs 2.1 per kwh to Rs 2.30 per kwh for the first 150 units. A three-slab system has been introduced from the earlier two-slab system for both domestic and non-residential supply. From 151 units onwards,electricity was priced at Rs 3.80 per kwh. Now from 151 to 400 units,the tariff is Rs 4.20 per kwh,and for above 400 units the tariff is Rs 4.40 per kwh.
