Police urge locals to be alert in wake of Mumbai blasts

With the objective to sensitize them and to create more awareness in the wake of series of bomb blasts which took place in Mumbai,senior officers of Chandigarh Police today held meetings with various institutions at the Police headquarters in Chandigarh.

With the objective to sensitize them and to create more awareness in the wake of series of bomb blasts which took place in Mumbai,senior officers of Chandigarh Police today held meetings with various institutions at the Police headquarters in Chandigarh.

The meeting was presided by H S Doon,IPS,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic & Security and was held with the heads of approximately 87 schools (both government and private) of Chandigarh and Chanchal Singh,District Education officer (DEO) Chandigarh also attended the meeting. The Police requested the school authorities to inform the beat authorities in case they (school authorities) find any suspicious items through beat staff. “The school should depute at least one teacher or some staff members in the school buses to keep vigil in the buses. Entry of outsiders in the school to be restricted and checked. In case,of any wrong/suspicious thing come to notice,they should immediately inform control room. Police personnel to be deployed at the schools on the time of opening and closing the school”,requested the police.

The second meeting was held with the representatives of Rehri Market Shopkeepers from different sectors of Chandigarh presided by Alok Kumar,Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police,and the third subsequent meeting was with the representatives of Market Welfare Association & Motor Mechanic Associations headed by Naunihal Singh,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandigarh.

The members were asked to sensitise their employees to keep watch on unclaimed items.
