Police form teams to trace third suspect

After two men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman in presence of her husband,the police have now formed three teams to trace an accomplice who had barged into the victim’s residence with the arrested duo.

After two men were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman in presence of her husband,the police have now formed three teams to trace an accomplice who had barged into the victim’s residence with the arrested duo. The police had arrested two of the three accused on basis of the description of one of them provided by the victim.

Police said the third accused,who has been identified only as Yadav is on the run. “We have formed teams and are tracing him. The problem is that there is nobody to identify him,” said Suresh Kilje,senior police inspector of MHB police station.

The police are now in the process of finding out details of Yadav’s native place so that they can send a team there to trace him. The two accused who were arrested,Sunni Singh (23) and Harish Dattani (25) were sent for a medical examination on Wednesday at the Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali (West). “We will begin questioning them on Thursday to find out the full name of Yadav and his address,” said Kilje.The police are also probing the motive behind the crime.

The incident took place in the Ganpat Patil slums in Dahisar (West),where the victim has been staying with her husband for a year. The victim’s husband in his complaint said he was asleep in his home at 11.30 pm on Monday,when three men barged in and began assaulting him.

According to the complaint,the men attacked the victim’s husband after asking who had dared to rent the room to him.
