Police arrested a person in the case of rape of a 30-year-old Pinjore woman on Monday. According to the police,on March 23,the victim had reported that she was raped and the accused had taken away her mobile phone and gold earrings.
The woman had alleged that Sukhwinder alias Sukha,her co-passenger,had raped her. Both of them were travelling in a vehicle and when they got down at Khera Basola,the woman was allegedly raped behind bushes,and her mobile phone and jewellery were looted.
Police officials said the girl had entered into a conversation with the accused in the vehicle,following which the man got down with her
Pinjore Station House Officer Raj Kumar along with his staff arrested the accused and also recovered the mobile phone from his possession.
Police said that the accused was a resident of Mirzapur,Patiala. On Monday,the accused was produced before the judicial magistrate of Kalka,which remanded him in two-day police custody,police said. They also said that the statement of the victim was recorded and the case was being investigated.
The final report in the case will be submitted before the court, police officials said.
