‘PhD research scholar, son of teachers’: New president’s first priority is getting CCTV cameras installed on campus

The president-elect of PUCSC, Anurag Dalal, 26, is a PhD research scholar at the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University. He hails from Lakhan Majra in Rohtak, Haryana, and has studied at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College in Delhi.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Anurag said he was active in student politics in Delhi during his graduation days as well. “However, I never contested for any student political post and was not associated with any student political wing either,” he said.
A year ago, he came to Panjab University and joined NSUI.
Anurag said that former state president of NSUI Sikandar Boora is his cousin, and has supported him in the elections.

On being asked as whether former NSUI student leader Manoj Lubana too campaigned and supported him during the PUCSC polls, Anurag just replied, “He too is my brother.”
Anurag said, “We contested the election as democratic front and it’s a win of students. We were not supported by any political party. It was the students who have come together and ensured my victory.”
Discussing his priorities, he said, “The first thing I would do on becoming the president of PUCSC is getting CCTV cameras installed on the campus.”
“There have been issues related to women on the campus. There have also been incidents of sexual harassment. I will work on these issues,” he said.
