Predicting Congress’ victory from Nalagarh and Renuka Assembly seats, state party president Kaul Singh Thakur on Monday accused ruling BJP of corrupting the election process in the two constituencies. He also urged the Election Commission of India to take note of the violations of the model code and blatant misuse of the government machinery.

“Despite the ruling government, ministers and BJP MLAs offering cash and liquor to the voters, the Congress candidates would emerge as winners. People are fed up with the corruption and misrule of the BJP government. They are preparing for a change,” Thakur said, while talking to newsmen here.

Thakur hailed Union Minister Virbhadra Singh’s move to extend support to the party candidates. “Some BJP leaders had tried to create a confusion about Virbhadra Singh’s statement, but he has issued an appeal to the voters of Nalagarh to support Lakhwinder Rana”.

In his appeal, the Union minister said that the BJP’s “corrupt regime” had resorted to all sorts of propaganda against the Congress on state’s development and resorted to “buying the votes”. Meanwhile, referring to to seizure of liquor from some vehicles and a room at Renuka Development Board guesthouse, where Chief Parlaimentary Secretary Sukh Ram Chaudhary was staying,Thakur asked the Election Commission to take appropriate action against him. “It was after I spoke to the Deputy SP of Renuka that the premises were raided by the police around 1.30am and liquor seized,” he added.
