A 23-year-old resident of Patiala has been confirmed positive for the H1N1 flu at the PGI on Monday. The patient was admitted in the PGI after his trip from Thailand last week. He,along with two other residents of Patiala,were admitted in PGI on Friday. Since the patient is from Patiala,we have informed the Punjab Health officials to quarantine the patients family. As per our information,he has his parents and siblings living at his parents house who would be quarantined, said a health official. This is the fourth case that has turned positive in the city. According to doctors,the patients condition is stable and he has been put medication.
Meanwhile,the GMCH received two suspected cases of swine flu from the tricity. The suspect includes a 14-year-old boy,a resident of Panchkula,who had gone for a trip to Malaysia and 26-year-old woman from Mohali who had gone with her family to Singapore. The patients had mild fever when they were admitted at the hospital. The throat swab samples of both the patients have been collected and sent to Delhi. The reports are expected by tomorrow, said H C Gera,nodal officer,UT.
