Panchkula robbery: Police arrest another accused

Two days after the broad daylight robbery at a Panchkula-based realtor in Sector 7,police has arrested the second accused from a bus stand in Phagwara,Punjab.

Two days after the broad daylight robbery at a Panchkula-based realtor in Sector 7,police has arrested the second accused from a bus stand in Phagwara,Punjab.

Deepak alias Gora of Manimajra was arrested by a team of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA),of Panchkula police when he was about to board a bus. Police is also looking for the third member of the gang identified as Lucky,a resident of Jalandhar.

“We have so far arrested two persons Arun Kumar and Deepak who were involved in the robbery and also recovered jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh from the two,which they had stolen,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime),Dheeraj Setya. “We are working on various leads to arrest the third accused.”

On Thursday afternoon,three burglars had barged in the house of Nitin Modi in Sector 7 and taken away cash and jewellery after pointing a gun at their seven-month-old daughter. Nitin’s wife and daughter were in the house when the three thieves barged in on the pretext of issuing smart cards. The three fled the house when some one knocked at the door. However,one of the burglars,Arun Kumar a resident of Jalandhar was overpowered by a bank employee,when he was trying to escape from the area. The family claims that the burglars stole cash and jewllery worth Rs 40 lakh from the house.

Police said that all the three accused were car mechanics and had planned robbery after a proper reconnaissance of the house.
